Gay-rights activist Harvey Milk was the first openly-gay elected official in the United States. After multiple failed attempts in the mid 70's, he was finally elected, and served just about eleven months on the board of supervisors in San Francisco before he was brutally murdered in his office in City Hall along with the Mayor Geroge Moscone by fellow supervisor Dan White.
His life's story is an inspiration, and his death is a tragic loss that can never be forgotten. His story was recently imortalized in the full-lenght motion picture "MILK" directed by Gus Van Sant, and starring Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, James Franco, Emile Hirsch, Diago Luna, and more. go see it today. |
